One part of the Pets I’ve Met mission is to help connect local animal shelters with potential donors, fosters, and volunteers. To do this, we have decided to start a program called #ShelterSunday. On select Sundays, our team will be heading out to a local animal shelter to speak with the volunteers and take pictures to promote their cause.
Today was our first one! We spent a few hours this afternoon over at Centre County PAWS in State College PA. From their website:
Centre County PAWS was established in 1980. For almost 40 years we have been committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs, educating citizens on responsible pet ownership, providing spay/neuter assistance, and ending pet overpopulation. We are a non-euthanasia, member supported, volunteer enabled organization dedicated to the Promotion of Animal Welfare and Safety.
PAWS is very near and dear to the Pets I’ve Met team as that is where we found Penny, our adorable 22-pound mutt who is the official spokes-dog of Pets I’ve Met. We’ve also spent time volunteering with PAWS and attending as many events as possible with them.
Ways to help Centre County PAWS:
The best way to help out is to give a direct donation. PAWS is a 501(c)(3) organization, and your donation is tax deductible.
If you are from the State College, PA area, you can always sign up to volunteer or become a foster. The more volunteers and fosters shelters like PAWS get the more animals they can help out. Like Chewy & Oswald here:
Who’s available at PAWS?
If you’re looking to adopt or just want to look at photos and profiles all day, you’re in luck. PAWS does a great job of keeping their website up-to-date with all the cats and dogs they help re-home. Click on Gigi below to see the cats or click on Turbo to see the dogs!
We took a ton more photos and a few videos during our visit to PAWS today. You can check them out by heading over to our Instagram account, our Facebook Page, or our Twitter account. Be sure to follow our blog for more updates!
